Making my Information Technology Revision CD-ROM

I have used the ADDIE model to illustrate the steps I took to create my Information Technology revision learning resource.

Analysis

Analysis helps you answer questions such as:

  • Who is the audience?
  • What are the learning objectives?
  • What kinds of authoring tools will be required?
  • Where will the content be taken from?
  • What is the timeline for completion?
The Analysis began following the exam results of the previous academic year:

The challenge we faced was to improve exam results for ICT. Despite BBC Bitesize being launched in 1998, ICT was not yet one of the subjects covered. In order to motivate pupils, I decided to create my own revision package using past exam papers to create questions and examples.

The first thing I had to do as part of the design process was decide what multimedia authoring software I would use. I chose to create this package using the software 'Illuminatus', which has since been replaced by Digital Workshop's Opus Creator, because of the support of common image and video formats and the easy-to-understand user interface which didn’t require me to learn any programming language.
